Air breathing reptiles that spend the vast majority of their lives underwater, Sea Turtles have captured the hearts and minds of the scuba diver for years.

Turtles the facts

• With the exception of the Antarctic, Sea Turtles can be found in every ocean around the world.

• There are only seven species of Sea Turtle, The Green Turtle, Hawksbill turtle, The Leatherback, The Olive Ridley, Kemps Ridley, The Loggerhead and The Flatback Turtle.

• A sea turtles diet includes jelly fish, they are immune to the venom and in turn can eat even the deadly Box Jellyfish.

• The leatherback turtle is the largest sea turtle the record is a hefty 916 kg. They are also the only sea turtle not to have a hard shell.

• The smallest and rarest sea turtle is the Kemp’s Ridley, not found in Australian waters, it is also the only marine turtle to nest during the day.

• It is suggested that some sea turtles can live to be over 80 years old.
