Yellowbar ParrotfishScarus schlegeli
(Other names Yellowband Parrotfish, Schlegel's Parrotfish)
Males are dark blue with lighter shades of blue scattered over the body. A pale blue bar can usually be seen on the upper head continuing down to the base of the dorsal fin. A pale bar also evident on the side of the body which is yellow dorsally. Females are a dark grey to brown with 5 to 6 whitish coloured bars that run vertically along the body. They can be found along the coral rich areas of coastal reefs, outer reefs and lagoons. Size: 40cm in length (Maximum) Diet: Algae |
