Yellow Eyed LeatherjacketPervagor alternans
(Other names Bright-eye Filefish, Yelloweye Filefish)
Identified by their yellow/orange eye, black body and yellow patterned tail. Although they are similar in colouration to the Black Reef Leatherjacket (Eubalichthys bucephalus) they lack the ability to grow above 16cm and have the distinct yellow tail. They are known to hide in crevasses and amongst hard corals along coastal and coral reefs. Size: 16cm (Maximum) Diet: Small invertebrates |
