Two distinct blue horizontal stripes on its lower body make this fish unique to other species in the family. There are also usually two vertical lines of orange and white but adults can vary in colour from black to orange. They are well known for adapting their colour to the surrounding habitat to blend in while seeking there prey. They can usually be found in coastal reefs and coral-rich lagoons.
