Threespot WrasseHalichoeres trimaculatus
Highly variable in colour depending on the growing stages and geographical location of the fish. Juveniles and females (pictured) different to the male. They generally have a white body with a faint yellow patch around the head and pectoral fin, and blue shading on the dorsal and anal fin. They have a distinct yellow rimmed black spot on the top of the caudal peduncle. They also have irregular pink and green lines over the head and eye area. Males with a second black spot above the pectoral fin and have yellow shading on the caudal peduncle extending over the back of the fish. Cheeks may also be yellow. A blue patch evident around the ventral fin area (forebody) and eyes. They also display irregular green and pink markings over the head and eye area. Usually found in small aggregations or solitary along coral reefs and sandy bottoms. Size: Length 27cm (Maximum) Diet: Bottom Feeding (Benthic) Invertebrates & Fishes |
