Map Image

One way to identify this octopus is by the white eye pupil. It has a muscular body and is uniformly but capable of rapid colour changes and is bright orange underneath the tentacles. They are night feeders and can usually be found hiding under rocks or in burrows during the day. It kills its prey by drilling with its sharp tongue and forcing open the shell. This species displays sexual cannibalism where the male can be consumed after courtship.
