Starry ToadfishArothron stellatus
(Other names Star Puffer, Starry Toadfish)
This Toadfish is variable in colour depending on location and growth stage. Adults can be bluish grey to brown bodied and white below with numerous small brown to black spots over the entire body and head including the fins. Small juveniles are black bodied with yellow curved vertical bands displayed over the body and head. As they mature body colour gradually changes, the yellow lines fade and spots appear until they become mature adults as described above. Adults are commonly found along coastal reefs around reef slopes and around outer reefs. Size: 1.2 metres (Maximum) Diet: Consists of algae, sponges, tunicates, crabs, coral, tube worms & detritus |
