The cheeks of this Emperor are smooth surfaced (no scales) and the scales over the body typically display white to light blue spots. Their body colour is yellow to brown with distinct thin bright blue lines around the eyes and ventral fin. Usually found in small schools inhabiting coastal and coral reefs.

Diet: Small Crustaceans, Echinoderms, Mollusks
