Southern RockcodScorpaena papillosa
(Other names Red Rockcod, Red Scorpianfish, Southern Red Scorpianfish)
The Southern Rockcod's (Scorpaena papillosa) body is made up of a mottled pattern with white, grey and brown colours. A number of brown spots cover the entire dorsal fin which helps to distinguish from other similar species. They are often found in rocky bottomed areas, along coastal and offshore reefs and can also be found in estauries and large rock pools. Sharp dorsal spines can deliver a nasty sting.
