Sculptured Sea MothPegasus lancifer

The body of the Sculptured Sea Moth (Pegasus lancifer) is commonly light to dark brown and can appear to be mottled (patchy) on certain parts of the body. The dorsal area can appear to be an olive green/blue. The often bury themselves under the sand as protection from predators and can be often be found in large congregations around estauries, seagrass beds and sandy bays. It has also been know to change the colour of its appearance to match the background of where it is. Size: 12 cm Diet: Small benthic invertebrates |
