Schooling Bannerfish

Schooling Bannerfish (Heniochus diphreutes) Body is white with two thick vertical black bands, and a yellow tail fin. Its ventral fin (on the top) is very long like an antenna. Adults gather in large schools, in estuaries to outer reefs, feeding midwater on zooplankton and cleaning fish. Juveniles gather in small groups around coastal bays and harbours, hiding amongst anything that can give them protection from dead trees to old lost fishing nets.

Size: 20cm (maximum)

Diet: Zooplankton, Cleaning Fish and Small Inverterbrates
