Roughy

Trachichthys australis
(Other names Southern Roughy)

They have a brownish-red body with a white vertical stripe located just behind the set of large eyes. All fins generally have a fine white line along the edge and base. It has relatively rough scales, hence the name and is often found in caves, around overhangs and rocky reefs either singly, in pairs or in small groups.

Size: 18cm in length (Maximum)

Diet: Small Crustaceans, Fish Larvae & Zooplankton
