Ring-eyed Hawkfish

Paracirrhites arcatus

Recognised by the distinct orange, red and white horse-shoe shaped ring just behind the eye. Three orange bands (edged in red) displayed just below the gill cover (operculum). Orange, brown to red and sometimes yellow bodied with a white stripe that runs along the lateral line down to the caudal peduncle. The caudal fin is purple/blue in colour. Found along coastal reefs in coral rich habitats.

Size: 20cm (maximum)

Diet: Crustaceans & small fish
