Regal AngelfishPygoplites diacanthus
The Regal Angelfish displays a yellow body with distinct vertical white bars edged in black along its entire length. The cordal and ventral fins are yellow, with the anal fin displaying blue and yellow horizontal stripes. The juvenile and adult are similar in appearance but the juveniles colour is more orange than yellow and displays a distinct ocellus (white-edged black circle) on the soft dorsal fin which clearly differentiates it from the adult. These angelfish a found amongst strong coral growth in reef habitats, sheltering in caves and ledges. Size: Grows to about 25cm Diet: Sea squirts, sponges, salps |
