Redbreast Maori Wrasse (Cheilinus fasciatus) The adults are red to brown bodied with distinct white vertical stripes/bands along its entire body length down to the caudal fin which is evident in all stages of growth. Adults also have an orange patch just behind the eye and pectoral fin, very fin orange lines (like rays of light) can also be seen around the eye. Juveniles dark brown bodied with finer white stripes/bands running along the body. Inhabit coastal and outer reefs. Size: 36cm in length Diet: Crustaceans, molluscs, sea urchins, benthic |
