Red barred RockcodEpinephelus fasciatus
(Other names Blacktip Rockcod, Blacktip Grouper)
Variable in colour depending on geographical location, this fish can be found to have a pale reddish/brown body with darker vertical bands running from head to caudal fin. The body can sometimes fade to white below or may appear to white on majority of the body with darkish bands (if apparent) and pale brown on top. The head is generally shaded a darker brown (patch like) The front tip of the dorsal fin is distinctly black with white tips, this is generally the easiest way to identify this fish. They are commonly found around outer reef slopes and occasionally in protected bay/lagoon areas.
