Purple QueenPseudanthias tuka
(Other names Purple Anthias, Yellowstriped Fairy Basslet)
Males are light purple bodied (sometimes may appear pinkish in colour) with dark purple fins (excluding pectoral fin) and a dark patch (purple/red) on the base of the soft dorsal fin. The bottom of the snout and chin a pale yellow. Females with a distinct yellow stripe running along the back and extending along the top of the caudal fin to the tip. A small yellow stripe also runs along the lower half of the caudal fin to the tip. Females tend to be a darker purple/pink on the body. Usually found in large aggregations along coastal reefs and outer reef slopes in depths up to 40 metres. Size: Length 12cm (Maximum) Diet: Planktonic Crustaceans & Fish Eggs |
