Peacock RockcodCephalopholis argus
(Other names Peacock Grouper, Peacock Hind)
Best known for its ability to change colour quickly from light greenish to very dark therefore having a variable colour phase. They generally have a greenish to brown body with numerous small blue spots, a distinct white patch (somtimes quite faint) in front of the pectoral fin, and between 5-7 pale white vertical bars on the back half (posteriorly) on the body. The caudal peduncle is often yellow and the fins shaded with dark blue on the outer edges. They are commonly found in coral rich areas along coastal and outer reefs, tide pools and lagoons.
