Orange BassletPseudanthias squamipinnis
(Other names Sea Goldie, Scalefin Anthias)
Females are different in colour to males. They are orange bodied (sometimes more yellow below) and may also display darker orange markings anywhere over the top half of the body and caudal fin. They have a distinct purple and pink line that runs from the eye along to the start of the pectoral fin. Males have a purple body colour with small yellow spots located on each scale. Shadings of pink, orange and yellow run through the fins and as a blotch on the pectoral fin. Males have a orange line that runs from eye to the start of the pectoral fin. Can be found in large aggregations along coastal and coral reefs. Size: Length 16cm (Maximum) Diet: Zooplankton |
