Juveniles have a distinct white line that runs over the snout up the forehead. They are white bodied below with a red to brown upper half and a large thick black bar in between that displays small blue spots. These spots are also found over the tale and back and all fins are margined in yellow. Adults are highly variable in colour from purple to orange to brown with numerous small light blue/violet spots over the body. Found solitary in the clear waters of outer reef slopes usually hiding in caves, drop offs and crevices.

Diet: Fish, Crabs, Shrimps & Stomatopods
