Johnstons Weedfish (Heteroclinus johnstoni) has a dark brown to black body covered in light brown/white mottled bars running along the entire length of the body. They are easily identified by the long tentacles protruding from the facial area looking like small pieces of coral branches.  A white blotch can also be found on the cheek, on both sides of the fish.
Their habitat is commonly shallow coastal and reef areas that are highly dominated with seagrass, weeds, algae and vegetation. They have also been found in deep offshore waters.

Size: 40 cm

Diet: Small fishes & invertebrates.
