Jackass MorwongNemadactylus macropterus

The Jackass Morwong (Nemadactylus macropterus) is silver to grey bodied, the fins can appear to be darker and sometimes brownish in colour. The have a very distinct dark band that runs over the top of the head to the base of the pectoral fin and is located behind the eye and before the start of the dorsal fin. They are commonly found in the southern waters of Australia in large schools from deep offshore waters to estuaries, bays and coastal reefs.
