Humphead ParrotfishBolbometopon muricatum
(Other names Bumphead Parrotfish, Double-headed Parrotfish, Green Humphead Parrotfish)
Known as the largest Parrotfish it is easily identified by its giant hump shape head. It has a bluish green to grey body and the more mature the fish the larger the hump. They display a rather larger set of teeth which is used for breaking up the live coral for feeding. They can be found in the coral rich areas of our coastal and outer reefs where they can form great schools which can at times be quite overwhelming for divers but a great experience. Size: 1.3 metres (Maximum) Diet: Algae & Coral |
