Gunther's Butterflyfish (Chaetodon guentheri) is mostly silver bodied with small dark spots forming irregular vertical rows. A black band edged in white cuts through the eye. The rear is mostly yellow with black and white edged dorsal and anal fins. Juveniles lack spots on the body and more orange to rear with a faint black spot on the dorsal fin , they are mostly solitary but sometimes found in schools along coral and rocky reefs.
