Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos
(Other names Grey Whaler)
Map Image

They are grey to slightly bronze above and almost white underneath. The edges and tips of their fins are darker than the rest of their body. They are found in tropical marine waters around coral reefs, in deep areas near drop-offs to the open sea, and in shallow lagoons near strong-currents. They are active during the day but far more at night. They are commonly seen in congregations, 'frenzy' feeding in favoured areas. Known to have attacked divers, yet not particularly dangerous. Usually have between 1 and 6 pups in a litter.

Size: 2.4m (Maximum)
