Golden WrasseHalichoeres chrysus

Golden Wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus) Bright yellow bodied through all stages but differs slightly as a juvenile, and as male and female. Juveniles display three black white edges spots along the dorsal fin (beginning, middle & end). As they mature into adults the female displays two to three small black spots generally located in the same area. Males display only one black spot at the beginning of the dorsal fin. They may also have faint orange to light green bands on the head and breast area (these are usually very faint). Can be found along coastal reefs around sandy bottoms and rubble areas, sometimes forming small schools. Size: Length 12cm (Maximum) Diet: Bottom Feeding (Benthic) Invertebrates |
