Forceps Fish (Forcipiger flavissimus) This bold yellow bodied fish is very distinct. Its head is split in colour consisting of a black triangle from the nose to the pectoral fin up to the start of the spikes dorsal fin to white from the nose down. A black spot also appears to the rear of the anal fin. Usually found in pairs along coastal and lagoon reefs. The Very Long- nosed Butterflyfish is almost identical apart from the obvious longer nose. Size: Max Length 22cm Diet: small invertebrates, parts of echinoderms, hydroids, fish eggs, small crustaceans, pedicilaria of sea urchins, and polychaete tentacles |
