Estuary CodEpinephelus coioides
(Other names Orange-spotted Grouper, Brown-spotted Cod )
The Estuary Cod is protected in all NSW waters under the Fisheries Management Act 1994 . Size limits are restricted throughout QLD waters under the Fishing Industry Organisation and Marketing Amendment Regulation 1993 . The Estaury Cod has a brownish coloured body which is often white below and displays large darker brown incomplete bars along the body. Orange spots cover the entire body and head, which are often larger in juveniles and young adults but as they mature they increase and become much smaller. They are mainly found in estauries and silty reef habitats and adults can be found offshore at depths of up to 100m. Size: 1.2 metres (Maximum) Diet: Crustaceans & Fishes |
