Diamondscale Goatfish

Brown to a pinkish red in colour, darker above than below. They have three white horizontal stripes, the top one extending from the eye to almost the tail, and each one after that is half as long as the previous. There is also a dark brown spot behind the eye. They often have small white or blue dashes scattered over the body. They inhabit sea-grass beds and coral rich areas of lagoons and seaward reefs. Their diet consists mainly of benthic invertebrates such as crustaceans which they actively feed on at night.
