Diamond WrasseAnampses caeruleopunctatus
(Other names Blue-spotted Wrasse)
Diamond Wrasse (Anampses caeruleopunctatus) Is highly variable in colour and pattern depending on its stage of growth. Juveniles can range from being white to silver bodied, sometimes almost black or pale brown with no other markings. Young adults develop beautiful numerous blue spots margined in black that form spotted lines along the body. Small lines are displayed over the head and the base colour is generally greenish orange/brown on top and dark blue/purple below. Large males lack these spots and are blue/breen bodied with small squiggly lines on each scale. They display a blue bar running from eye to eye and a yellow bar running vertically behind the pectoral fin. They are commonly found along coastal and coral reefs.
