The Clown Wrasse (Coris gaimard) Juveniles are orange-red with large black edged white blotches over back, eyes and snout. As they mature the blotches reduce in size and their tail fin turns yellow. Both adult sexes have green stripes on their faces. The males head is pinkish and they have green bands on their body. Males have small blue dots closely and evenly spaced over their body. Females too have these blue spots yet they are brighter and randomly patterned. Females have an orange face and fins and their tails are yellow. They inhabit clear coastal to outer reefs forming small groups near slopes, on crests, around rubble and above sand patches. Size: Length 40cm (Maximum) Diet: Crustaceans & Mollusks |
