Chevron ButterflyfishChaetodon trifascialis

The Chevron Butterflyfish (Chaetodon trifascialis) has a pale yellow dorsal and anal fins surrounds a mainly white body with eighteen or more forward facing boldly painted dark chevrons. Adults have a black eye bar, with a black caudal fin margined with yellow. Juveniles possess the eye bar but lack the yellow margined caudal fin. Usually found along protected coral reefs and lagoons. At night the colouration changes and a thick dark bar running horizontally along the length of the body can be seen, with two white dashes that look like eyes.
