Caledonian Stinger

This fish possibly wins the crown for the worlds ugliest fish. Two eyes protrude from the skull pointing upwards onto a boney brow. If you encounter this fish you will notice, like the stonefish they are camouflaged hunters and are not quick to move out of the way for divers. Attempts to move them usually result in them moving only a few inches crawling along the bottom using their finger like pectoral fins to crawl, accompanied by raising up their dorsal spines that contain venom. Needless to say, this fish should not be handled. First aid procedure is to immerse the wound in hot water and seek medical advice.
