Bluespotted Goatfish map

As juveniles the Bluespotted Goatfish (Upeneichthys vlamingii) is very different to the adult stage. As juveniles they have a very light grey body below and brownish/sandy coloured above. Seperating these to colours a thick black line runs along the midlateral area for the entire length of the body and head. As they develop in to adults the grey turns to orange and they develop small blue stripes over the face and spots over the body and fins. The midlateral line remains, although it is not so prominant. They can usually be found in small schools around rocky estauries, sandy coastal waters and deep coastal waters.
