Blue-head TilefishHoplolatilus starcki
(Other names Starck's Tilefish)
Juveniles are all blue, whereas adults have a blue-head and yellow body. Has a distinctive large forked tail. They inhabit the rubble of steep slopes of outer reefs. Adults are found in pairs and when threatened shoot headfirst into burrows. Juveniles can be found swimming in schools along with other similarly coloured fish. Size: 15cm in length (Maximum) Diet: Zooplankton, Small crustaceans and fish eggs. |
