Blue-barred ParrotfishScarus ghobban
As juveniles this parrotfish has a yellow body with blue spotted bars along the body which are often incomplete. As they mature into adults the body remains yellow (in some light may appear brown) and often blue above. There is a small blue bar located on each scale over the body. They are often found solitary around sheltered, silty and sandy bottomed areas of coral and coastal reefs. Size: 90cm in length (maximum) Diet: Algae |
