Blackspot TuskfishChoerodon schoenleinii
Due to its size and colouration it is easy to mistake the Black-spot Tuskfish for a Parrotfish. Their body is blue to green and best identified by their tusk-like canine teeth and the black spot that appears around the middle of the dorsal fin at the base. Juveniles are mainly yellow bodied in colouration with a blue tail. Although it has a wide distribution in Australia it is a sought after food fish and is therefore considered to be near threatened due to over fishing.
