Black CodEpinephelus daemelii
(Other names Saddletail Grouper, Black Rockcod, Spotted Black Grouper)
This is a protected species in Commonwealth and NSW state waters under the N.S.W Fisheries Management Act 1994 and the Commonwealth Fisheries Management Act 1991 . They are a large fish with a mottled black, white and grey body. There is also a couple of dark bands running along the back that curve towards the front of the fish. They are often known to be an aggressive territorial species hiding out in caves and under ledges. Size: 2m (Maximum) Diet: Crustaceans & Fishes |
