Bicolour ParrotfishCetoscarus bicolor

Variable in colour through the different growth stages, juveniles have been recorded as being white bodied with and orange an band (some parts edged in black) that runs around the head over the eyes and cheeks leaving the mouth white. As young adults they are generally darker bodied with numerous black spots (pictured)and the base body colour varies (these are generally the females). It is common for large mature females to change sex to become males where they are identified by there multiple colours. They have green bodies with each scale from behind the pectoral fin down to the caudal fin with a pink line. The head has small pink dots and a pink line that runs from the mouth to the base of the pectoral fin. The anal fin is pink and green and the caudal fin is edged in pink and ends in a bright blue. They are commonly found around coastal reefs where males are know to be territorial. Size: Length 90cm (Maximum) Diet: Benthic Algae & Plants |
