Batu CorisCoris batuensis
(Other names Variegated Wrasse)
As juveniles they are pale green above (darker shading as juveniles) and white below. They display small orange/red to brown spots on head and lower body and several dark and several white bars on the upper body which stay as they grown into adults. Three distinct black spots edged in white along the dorsal fin. As adults only the middle spot remains (it is known for females to keep all three spots) and the body colour becomes slightly lighter but remains the same colour they no longer display any spots. Females may also display pink lines over the face. Usually found solitary along coastal reefs, lagoons and seaward reefs, on sandy and rocky bottoms.
