Banded Goatfish

Colours vary from a grey to a purplish red, with a distinct dark spot behind the eyes. They also have two irregular black bands that encircle the body towards the end of the tail. As they grow their colour becomes darker. Regularly gathers in schools and occurs over sandy bottoms and rubble near shallow reefs and lagoons, but can be found to a depth of 180m.
