This is such an important Island, not only is it home to the world's largest remaining population of Green Turles.The waters surrounding Raine Island are so active that seeing over 100 turtles during an hour is possible.
Due to it being such an important environmental icon, the island is totally protected from access, but diving in the deep oceanic waters surrounding the island is superb. It is also the most significant seadbird rookery in the region. Tiger Shark research is also conducted from research boats and if you are lucky enough to visit this part of the world it will stay very close to your heart forever! |
