I've always loved the ocean - snorkelling, surfing and swimming, but, with my husband Andy's encouragement, I first tried SCUBA diving while on a holiday in Fiji in early 2005. It was the most amazing experience - I was hooked right from that first dive, and I couldn't wait to get back home to gain my qualifications and continue my diving journey. As I'd always been a keen "point and shoot" photographer, it was a natural progression to take my small camera underwater in a little housing, however I soon became frustrated with the limitations of a small camera.

So...one day I took my little camera diving without the o-ring and flooded it (it WAS an accident....I PROMISE:)

I then upgraded to an Olympus C7070 camera in an Ikelite housing, and over the next year or so I added Ikelite strobes and a Wide Angle lens. I loved the setup, and learnt the basics of underwater photography with it. Some of my favourite underwater images are still those taken with that rig.

Finally, in April 2008, I felt confident enough to go to the next level in my photography, and I moved to an SLR camera. My current rig is a Canon 50D camera, in a Nexus housing with twin Inon Z240 strobes. My favourite lens are a 60mm Macro lens for the tiny critters, a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lens for the big stuff, and a Sigma 17-70mm for everything in the middle.

My enthusiasm for diving has never wavered, and taking photographs underwater just enhances the experience, allowing me to share my experiences with family and friends.

Diving has also given Andy and I an excuse to travel to many wonderful destinations, and to meet many like minded friends who share our passion.
