My adventures in diving started in 2007 at the behest of a friend from work. "You'll love it", she'd say. "There's so much to see down there that you won't believe your eyes." I wasn't convinced, not having even been for a swim in the ocean for many years. But after a couple of months of prodding and pushing, I jumped into the deep with my partner Kerryanne and we haven't looked back since.

The first expensive hobby of mine was photography - the camera rarely leaves my side. And so on the very first ocean dive, swimming past the vibrant jetty pylons and schools of friendly fish, I knew I'd be bringing a camera down with me very soon afterwards. So after buying all the scuba gear we could fit into the car for the both of us, I added a Canon G9, Ikelite DS125 strobe and Ikelite housing to the pile. Naturally, we then needed a new car...

Diving has taken me around the coast of South Australia, visiting the leafy sea dragons on the Yorke Peninsula, the Giant Australian Cuttlefish in the freezing cold waters of Whyalla and many of the wrecks in St Vincent's Gulf.

I've travelled to Vanuatu to dive the SS President Coolidge and the amazing coral reefs off Hideaway Island. Fortunately the Coolidge is a massive ship so there's still plenty to explore the next time I get there.

I never realised how much diving would change my life, but ever since that first tentative step into the great unknown, I've become completely addicted. Strap on the gear, turn on the air and I'll see you at the bottom.
